Stepping forward on Tuesday!

My foot surgery will occur at noon on Tuesday, November 14th at Missouri Baptist Hospital. Many of you know that I met with two orthopedic foot surgeons in the Chicago area at the end of October and we are using their recommendations for one final attempt at correcting a very challenging medical situation. The overall goal is to get the foot to remain flat and make contact with the ground. We are going to do bone grafting from the pelvis area and will transfer bone to the foot to lengthen the large tendon in the foot that aids in foot position.

I will likely spend one night at the hospital and will come home on Wednesday. My surgeon is partnering with another surgeon and they have the operating room scheduled for the entire afternoon on Tuesday. As surgery goes, they are going to be pretty aggressive in attempting to solve the current problem. I will come home with the foot in a splint and then will return to the surgeon's office for a hard cast on Friday, November 17th. I will need to be in a hard cast for a minimum of six weeks and possibly longer.

I moved things to my parents' house this weekend, have my house decorated for Christmas and am ready to get on with feeling better. I have fun leopard print crutches . . . you have to do something to get through a tough situation. Thankfully, I have been very fortunate in the past with no infections from surgery (either in the foot or hip), so pray that this continues. I am relaxed about the situation and realize that God will orchestrate all the details in upcoming days. Keep praying for the skill of my surgeons (Dr. Krause and Dr. Noonan) on Tuesday, that I don't get sick from the anesthetic, patience, and that the foot will respond like it should. Thanks for your prayers!

Jen, not sure what the problem was earlier in trying to view the blog but I am in now and able to post.

We are praying for you daily. Dacia Grace prays for you several times a day. She sure loves her Aunt Jenny.

Jenny,
You have remained so strong through all of this. I know this has been a long journey. The end is near, and "fun" shoes are in your future!!!! I've never prayed that anyone should have a "flat foot", but I will pray that yours can at least be flat enough to fit into a shoe!
Keep smiling! Katie

Hey, Jenny:
Prayed for you today! Hope the Sx went well--Mary Lou told me @ your blog site, so I'll look forward to getting updates on it! I'm sad for you wardrobe b/c it's a real bite to only have to be 1/2 coordinated! You are one of the most fashionably coordinated people I've ever met, and your shoes must be sad b/c they'll only be 1/2 used and joined (on the other foot) by a not-so-fashionable shoe boot. Yuck. I'm typing one-handed b/c Elijah's sitting on my lap. Multitasking. Praying for you tonight in the hospital! The Jobacks (Mike, Laura, Isaac, and Elijah)

Jenny: MaryLou told me @ your blog site, so I look forward to hearing good news about your surgery and recovery. Prayed for you today! I'm sad for your wardrobe. It may never recover! You're one of the most coordinated individuals I've ever met, and I'm sad that your shoes will be only 1/2 so coordinated for a while! Your closet is probably in mourning. Being joined by a less-than-fashionable shoeboot is a bite! I'm typing one-handed b/c Elijah's on my lap. Multitasking. Big hug!

Oops, can you tell that I'm a new blogger-I thought it didn't take my comment and so I typed it again. What a loser! Actually, not so much a loser, more of a computer-challenged sort of person. Ah, well, if the shoe fits! Pardon the pun.
Sleep well!
