Swelling - ugh!

There is WAY more swelling happening this week than I'd like and it is making wearing a shoe really difficult. I am supposed to be moving from the boot to a shoe, but it is slow going. Spring shoes are different in style from winter & this is part of the problem .... I do better with a closed toe, no open back or toe piece, can't do a flip flop, something with forefoot flexibility and no higher than approx. 1 inch. It is quite the criteria to find in a shoe!

Today I just resorted to the boot all day because I was so frustrated on Monday. Tomorrow I'm going to go back to a pair of shoes that I know worked well w/my foot when it was doing good. I've had dressy speaking events the past two days, so that is hard also. It will all work out, but sometimes the shoe fits in the morning and then by 1:00 it doesn't (swelling sets in) .... go figure.

This morning while drying off after a shower, I noticed that my incision was bleeding. The skin is so incredibly thin, that a little scab that was there had opened & suddenly my white bathroom rug was now red. My incision has been very itchy yesterday & today, so I'm hoping it is not another allergic reaction suture situation coming on.

I will return to the STL orthopod on May 13th and not this week, so give me a little more time to see how the walking goes. I'm missing going to pt already, because that is just what I've always done!

Overall, it is still good .... just a few rough days with sausage toes and a fat ankle. I'll get over it!

Glad I checked in! Will PRAY, girl...nobody needs sausage toes! That's the pits! And I will also pray that the incision will heal back up quickly w/ no irritation or underlying problem suture-wise. You know...you never really realize how important your mobility is until you get it compromised, huh? I haven't been allowed to kneel for like 3 months now w/ this knee thing...and that's kneeling...not walking! Hel-LO! I have NOTHING to complain @! Girl, gotcha' covered! Will pray! L Jo

Jenny, Not what I wanted to hear, however maybe just a little bump in the road. Lets face it you are on your foot quit a bit, that will cause swelling. Maybe, you need to slow down a little if possible I know easier said than done but try to baby yourself a little. Praying things keep going in the right direction. Looking forward to the next update with the good news! Love,Ted,Carol,Teddy

Hey! Just wanted you to know I was thinkin' 'bout you & your tootsies! Hopefully they're more like vienna sausages today, rather than polkska kiobasa (sp?)...i.e.: smaller in diameter... What-EVER! I'm not too "up" on the sausage lingo, so you'll have to excuse me on that one...perhaps I should consult my grocer or my butcher at the local Dierbergs! Or, perhaps NOT and we'll move OFF of the subject of swollen toes, since we're all hoping they are LESS so now! Any-hoo...sending happy thoughts and lots of prayers your way this PM. L Jo
