Holiday Happenings Week ....

I am doing okay and have been busy, busy with holiday things. It seems that I’ve had something nearly every night, which is more than I’d like …. all fun things, but night after night is a lot. No kiddos at work this week, so that will be a nice break. I only work M-W this week and then am off until January 4, 2010.

I took last Friday off, which was the first non-surgery vacation day off in 2+ years. It was marvelous! I got so much shopping and baking done … I loved it!

The pt seems to be helping my toes to be more flexible. I am getting closer to being able to spread the toes apart, but not quite there yet. You can see the toes trying, but I guess they are still thinking about performing their best. Today I whizzed through the grocery store with a cart and I moved noticeable faster than normal. The last two times I have wore my boots in the evening, I’ve had a lot of pain in the big toe (swelling). Tonight I was at a Christmas party and I couldn’t really take them off ….. it can feel fine one minute and the next minute feel awful. The bad thing is that to just look at it you wouldn’t say it is swollen. I may e-mail my Chicago dr. after the holidays and ask her if there is anything else to help w/the swelling, but I am fairly sure that the forefoot compression stocking it the “semi-cure.” Just a minor “deal with it” thing, after all I’ve been through.

As I went to bed last night I was thinking that I’ve had a cast the past two Decembers and I love the fact that there are no chilly toes shivering this month. I’m continuing to be overly cautious about slick sidewalks, streets, parking lots, etc.

Stay warm this week!

Oh, please DO be careful about slippery walkways this season! You have come SO far on your tootsies ... they must stay protected! Saw your parents' Christmas card (my parents brought it over on Christmas day) ... it was WONDERFUL ... AS WAS YOURS!!!! Ha! Kids are in the tub & I'm having a few minutes to catch up w/ this type of stuff. Still recovering from the chaos of two kids and Christmas Day. Lots of clean-up. Very thankful for YOU and your progress this season. Thankful for family and friends. Hugs. L Jo

Jenny, Sounds like things are almost back to normal. Long time coming but well worth the time and patience for such a wonderful ending to what could have been a nightmare. Hope you and your family had a blessed and fun christmas. We had a great day kind of quiet and relaxing. Take care and keep moving forward. Love, Teddy and carol

Interesting article as for me. I'd like to read something more concerning that topic. Thank you for sharing that info.
The only thing it would be great to see here is such photo or even two :)
