Final preparations for TX ....

We're finalizing details and getting directions, medical records ready to take to Dallas next week. I managed to get an MRI appt. for 8am on Friday, so we can take the films with us. It was a big struggle with insurance today, but I think I finally got it worked out by the end of the day. Barnes first wanted me to do it on Thursday night during the debate time and I said "no way!"

I did hear of someone today that was significantly helped by the first surgeon that I am scheduled to see. His foot situation was totally different from mine, but at least it was good to hear that he had helped someone else.

It is really challenging to manage expectations with something like this. It is hard to not expect new doctors to have all the magical answers. I will be thrilled if two agree on and recommend the same treatment plan. I'm a firm believer that you learn something from every appointment, but sometimes it isn't as much as you'd like. I think it would be rare for a surgeon to tell me at the first appointment that they are out of ideas, but I guess it could happen. I really need to prepare myself to hear anything. This applies well .... "In nothing be anxious" - Philippians 4:6 Maybe we'll learn the greatest new treatment idea ever or perhaps we'll hear that we've tried everything .... time & faith shall tell.

My STL surgeon has done a lot of work in preparation for me to go to TX. He typed a summary sheet of the surgeries and has gathered all the x-rays onto several disks. We've e-mailed more than usual in the past two weeks & I'm still grateful that he does e-mail!

Tomorrow is our first day of students at work, so I'll be tired Wednesday night. Hope you are enjoying cooler temps and St. Louis fall days.

LOVIN' the fall weather, too, my friend! Thankful for conscientiousness of the St. L doc and good rep for new ideas of the TX doc. Sounds like you're in good hands. Remember...the hands in which you REALLY rest are Gods...and HIS are a much better place to be than any of ours, the created. Nestle down and rest! And, I agree, expectations are QUITE a bother, no matter on WHAT subject matter you speak... Will pray for a steady heart & for emotions and hopes not to leap ahead of reality. L Jo
