Toenail . . .

I met with my STL orthopedic surgeon this afternoon at 2:30pm. He walked into the room and asked where I’d been for the past six months . . . it is a good thing that I’ve managed to go 6 mo. without an appt.

He agreed that my fused toe should not be hurting and that it was an ingrown toenail. He did not think it was infected, but neither of us wanted to take any changes with that happening, if we took the “wait and see” approach. He said that he could remove it, so I opted to do it today. I told him upfront that there was no way I was going to a podiatrist.

It took awhile for the numbing medicine to work, but at least it is done. It isn’t something you want to do more often than necessary…. good thing I have a high pain tolerance. If the toenail issue returns, then we’ll do something surgical, that is more involved, to solve the problem.

He joked and said that it is considered an office “surgery,” but in my case he said let’s not count it as a surgery . . . . my surgery list doesn’t need to be any longer. We laughed about it and agreed that we’d just call it a surgical procedure.

I’m in quite a bit of pain now, but that is because the anesthetic is wearing off. Hopefully the pain meds kick in soon. I am planning on going to work tomorrow, but may use the scooter for a day. Everything else continues to be okay …. super busy with students and preparing for a holiday kiddo day (JA Jingle Day) next Thursday.
