Finished pt . . . all is good!

Greetings! Sorry for the lack of updates lately . . . lots of holiday stuff happening.
Last Friday was my final physical therapy session. It went well and I made big progress since we started in September. My “graduation gift” was a t-shirt from the pt office. Lots of time and money, but in the end it was worth it. I promised to keep in touch w/my therapist & will take them some holiday treats in another week. The toes are still flat and I am walking well. I wish the Dallas dr. could see that all is well.

Funny story today with a student at JA . . . . he was the “security officer” in JA BizTown, and he gave me a “ticket” for walking fast. His job was to enforce the rules & make sure slow walking was occurring. I laughed and thought that was a great accomplishment in my case. I think he was disappointed that I wasn’t upset with receiving a “ticket.”

On Tuesday of this week, I wore a boot (dressy w/no heel) at work (did not have students) and lasted all day in the boot. I was so happy and lasted wearing it much longer than I anticipated.

Tonight I was at the nail salon and ended up having a pedicure because of a bad callus that I couldn’t get to on my left foot. I am not supposed to bend that far w/my lack of hip motion. Anyway, while I was there I told the technician that the corner of my toe on my right foot was continually sore . . . she took one look at it and said, you have an ingrown toenail! Ugh! So, now I’m thinking that the toe pain I’ve had for several months & thought is was because of the toe fusion is likely an ingrown toenail. Wouldn’t that be something if we could get that to disappear? I’ll call my STL ortho dr. tomorrow & will make an appt. . . . not sure if he normally does that type of thing, but he likely will for me. After all, I’m not stepping into a podiatrist’s office. Hindsight is 20/20, but I guess I should have thought about an ingrown toenail . . . . with so much happening with that foot, you never really what is causing pain! I read that even trauma to the foot can cause it, so who knows when it started. I hope the technician is right, as that is something that can be fixed.

Need to get back to wrapping gifts . . . thanks for checking in!
